Swimming in warm water is what every child (and you as a parent) wants. Especially if you set up the pool early, it’s nice to swim in warm water when it’s not yet very warm outside. One way to heat the pool water is with a wood stove.

How to heat your pool with a wood stove?

A wood stove heats the pool using wood, so there are no energy costs. Fill the stove with wood up to the top of the heat exchanger. Light the fire and the heat exchanger will warm up. The pool water flows through the heat exchanger and is heated in the process. The water then returns to the pool, and you can enjoy warm water!

Advantages of heating a pool with a wood stove:

  • No use of gas or electricity
  • Quick way to heat your pool
  • Not dependent on outside temperature or sunlight

Disadvantages of heating a pool with a wood stove:

  • Labor-intensive; the wood needs to be refilled regularly
  • Wood is not cheap. Tip: use branches and garden prunings
  • Can produce smoke
  • The pool is not covered, so heat escapes quickly
  • Fire is dangerous, so keep children away from the pool stove
