What do you need to keep a pool clean?

Ovale zwembadtent boven ingegraven zwembad - SunnyTent

Taking a refreshing dip in your own pool is all you want on a hot summer day. A backyard pool is wonderful for both yourself and the kids. Splashes in the water with friends are delightful. But then comes the problem of dirty pool water caused by leaves, bird droppings, grass, and other small debris. Naturally, you don’t want that, and you don’t want to spend the whole summer standing next to the pool with a net. We explain which products you need to keep a pool clean and give tips to prevent debris in your pool.

Filter Pump

If you have a pool, the filter pump is a must-have! The filter pump is placed below the waterline and keeps the pool water moving. This reduces the chance for algae, bacteria, and mold to develop. All harmful particles are caught by a replaceable cartridge. We recommend replacing the cartridge every 2 weeks during the peak season.

Skimmer/Net

If you have problems with leaves and grass in the pool, a skimmer is ideal. A skimmer collects debris floating on the water, preventing larger debris from entering the filter pump. Of course, you can also use an old-school net to remove leaves.

SunnyTent Pool Cover

If you want not only clean water but also warm water, the SunnyTent is perfect for you! The SunnyTent is a  pool cover  that keeps the water clean by covering your pool. Leaves and other larger debris fall outside the pool and the SunnyTent, so you only need to manage bacteria and small debris. In addition to keeping the water clean, the SunnyTent also warms the pool water. This happens completely naturally, using daylight and sunlight. This allows you to swim from spring to autumn, a win-win!

Chlorine and Other Chemicals

To truly keep your pool clean, it is important to periodically check the quality of the pool water. For this, you use a tester that measures the levels of chlorine, pH, and alkalinity. Alkalinity ensures that chlorine works effectively and maintains the pH balance. When these are out of balance, add chlorine or pH+ or pH- as needed.

Vacuum

If you still have sand and small stones at the bottom of the pool, don’t empty the pool. Instead, use a pool vacuum to solve this problem. This pool vacuum contains a filter bag that collects debris from the pool floor.

Tips to Keep Your Pool Clean:

  • Rinse off first under the garden shower, or if you don’t have one, rinse your feet with some water. This prevents grass and sand from entering the water of the playing children.
  • Do not place your pool under or near trees.
  • Let sunscreen absorb properly before taking a dip.
  • Do not eat or drink in the pool.
  • Cover the pool with the SunnyTent or a pool cover. A pool cover can only be used when you are not swimming, while the SunnyTent can also be used while swimming. This way, you always swim in clean water!
